For international farmers, Agribition gives them a chance to learn a few new agriculture tricks as well.
The agricultural showcase is expected to see 60-70 countries take in the event this year.
Andrew Whitlow is a 20-year-old cattle farmer from England taking in his first Canadian Western Agribition. He won a bursary to Agribition and compete in the Canadian National 4H & Youth Judging Competition.
“We can learn a lot for you guys,” Whitlow said after describing how professional the event has been.
“Hopefully we could try and emulate a similar show in our country but Canada’s more of an agriculturally minded country compared to England where we are so you’ve got a lot more backing over here I think.”
Whitlow said now that the competition is over, he’s going to get a chance to look at the different genetics and systems in Canada. He also said he is looking at the possible embryos that they can get delivered over to his own farm.
Andreson Iryna works with Semex Alliance Ukriane and they brought farmers from Ukraine to Agribition to buy livestock and make new contacts.
“After they come back home they have the chance to implement all they saw here on their farms and their businesses.”
Agribition runs until Saturday with the Agribition Pro Rodeo starting Wednesday.
