In a brilliantly Australian interview with Today, Brisbane local Daniel McConnell shared the story of how he chased down a man who drove into his friend’s shop – then tried to get away.
“The car smashed and I seen the bloke walking back to the car, so I walked outside and said, ‘What are you doing mate? You can’t be leaving the scene,’ McConnell said in the live interview Thursday morning.
“All I had was me jocks on and he was chasing me up the street and I’m just like, mate!”
That’s right – McConnell decided to leap into action wearing nothing but his underwear.
His heroics not only led police to the suspect, but people the world over are now hailing McConnell a legend.
The television segment has since gone viral, with many commenters calling it the “most Australian interview ever” and others repeating the old adage: you can’t judge a book by its cover.
