Here is hoping the Grey Cup is held in every CFL city before it returns to Toronto.
Toronto has hosted the Grey Cup three times in the last 12 years. In contrast, Hamilton – because of a lack of facilities – hasn’t hosted a Grey Cup since 1996.
The Toronto support for the Grey Cup in 2016 appeared to be the same as it was in 2007.
The market – several non-rights holding media members included – doesn’t understand the quality of the product or the league itself.
That may never change in the centre of the universe. It’s evident that the city that has the most Canadians isn’t capable of grasping a great Canadian tradition.
I can’t wait for Ottawa’s event in 2017. The new Mosaic Stadium is no doubt on a short list. Hamilton deserves some consideration.
Then let’s go to the other five league cities again before Toronto gets consideration. Perhaps by 2025 Torontonians can acquire the knowledge needed to host a successful Grey Cup.
