CCMA's coming back to Saskatoon for 2017

Saskatoon will be the place to be next year for country music fans as the city plays host to the Canadian Country Music Awards.

It was announced on Wednesday the City of Bridges will host to the annual event showcasing the best of the best in Canadian country music.

Saskatoon last hosted the CCMA’s in 2012.

Organizers said there were a lot of “firsts” for the event that year and some of the improvements made that are still part of the show today.

“A lot of them they’ve mandated for the CCMA’s no matter what city they’re in, like the Green Carpet, they do it every year no matter what city they’re in,” said Dawn Woroniuk, chair of Potash Corp. country music week 2017.

Woroniuk said she looks forward to seeing local talent preform, musicians from Saskatchewan taking the stage.

“They come from all over, not just Regina or Saskatoon,” Woroniuk said. “Look at Jess Moskaluke.”

Moskaluke is from Langenburg, Sask, which is northeast of Regina, near the Manitoba border. Saskatchewan’s own Cody Prevost is from the small village of Archerville, north of Wadena.

The 2017 awards show will be held Sept. 10 at SaskTel Centre.
 
Tickets go on sale December 9th at 10:00 am.
