It’s a place they have been before and now the University of Saskatchewan Huskies are back on top in CanadaWest. The Huskies beat the top-ranked Alberta Golden Bears 4-1 on Friday and 4-0 on Saturday in Saskatoon.
Carson Stadnyk led the way with a pair of goals on Friday for the Huskies. Jesse Forsberg and Andrew Johnson added one each while Jodon Cooke stopped 20 of 21 shots in the win.
Cooke was much busier on Saturday and once again shut the door. The third-year goalie saved all 45 shots he faced for his third shutout of the season in the 4-0 victory.
Michael Sofillas, Andrew Johnson, Parker Thomas and Levi Cable had the goals on Saturday as the Huskies take over first place in the CanadaWest hockey standings.
The 10-5-1 Huskies don’t play again until 2017 when they host Mount Royal on Jan. 6 and 7.
