Emergency shelters are responding to the cold weather.
At Souls Harbour Mission, the men’s transition housing has been at full capacity for most of the year.
“When people come to the shelter, if we don’t have room then we are reaching out to mobile crisis to try and find them accommodation,” explained Patty Humphreys, who is with Souls Harbour.
There are several emergency shelters with most reporting availability. But it isn’t just overnight help that is needed at this time of year.
“What we are really in need of is good quality cold weather clothing, boots, jackets, ski pants and children’s items,” Humphreys said.
