Eric Ratt, of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, was last seen leaving a Zimmer Lake trapper’s cabin belonging to a family member Oct. 19. Ratt was reported missing Dec. 3 after failing to arrive for a scheduled supply pickup.
RCMP said it is not uncommon for him to be gone for extended periods of time, but searches and an investigation have so far failed to locate the trapper.
An aerial search located Ratt’s canoe on the north shore of Highrock Lake, about 250 km. north east of La Loche, RCMP said it appears Ratt left items in the canoe intending to return. No other sign of Ratt was found.
RCMP said the Lac La Ronge Band is preparing for an organized ground search in coming days, and have asked anyone travelling in the area to be aware of search efforts.
