Mission Ridge is set to open Saturday, one day later than the original opening date.
The hill has been making snow since Dec. 5 and the decision was made to push the opening back one day in order to ensure all the runs would be open.
“It really does add to the experience,” Snow School Director Anders Svenson said. “You can go out and enjoy everything Mission Ridge has to offer, not just two or three runs with snow guns blowing on you.”
Svenson said the snow making process went smoothly with it being “completed in record time.”
He said the cold temperatures help with the snow making process, making it easier to create large amounts of snow at one time.
Svenson expects the park to be busy despite the cold temperatures.
“The last two weeks everyone’s been sitting in their house not going outside because it’s been cold so usually once we get that cold snap and then have some warm temperatures right away, we’re busy.”
