The busiest shopping weekend of the year is upon us.
This is the last full weekend before Santa arrives and it is expected to be a busy one.
At the Cornwall Centre, one of the biggest malls in Regina, they are expecting traffic to double.
An average Saturday in June sees 17,000 shoppers through the door. Last year on the last Saturday before Christmas, over 30,000 shopped at the centre.
“That is almost double the traffic so we have lots of extra staff in, as do the retailers,” explained Doug Kozak, general manager of the Cornwall Centre.
“This is it, this will be the weekend that will be crazy.”
And if you’re a person who prefers to avoid the crowds, Tenille Lafontaine with blog site feistyfrugalandfabulous.com has some advice.
“Go first thing when they open and be there like an early bird or go close to the end of the day near closing,” Lafontaine said.
Or you could wait until the last minute and next Saturday, Christmas Eve, when most others will be travelling to visit family.
