Two men from Alberta have been charged by Regina police after allegedly taking a man on an eight hour trip against his will.
Police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Park Street around 12:53 a.m. Thursday for a man reporting he had been held against his will by two other men, with a handgun and a taser, as they travelled from Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta to Regina.
Police located the suspect vehicle parked at a motel in Regina’s east end. Members of the SWAT team and Crisis Negotiators were called because of the potential of firearms being involved. Two men were taken into custody without incident around 10:05 a.m. Officers seized a handgun, brass knuckles, and a taser.
Clayton James Fortin, 46, and Robert Knight, 39, both from Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, are facing a total of 26 charges including forcible confinement and assault with a weapon.
Both accused made their first court appearance in provincial court in Regina Friday morning.
