A constable with the Saskatoon Police Service has been put on desk duty as he waits to face a drunk driving charge.
Trenton Dament, 45, was arrested early Friday monring after allegedly crashing his vehicle into a curb at 8th Street and Boychuk Drive.
An automatic roadside assistance system in Dament’s vehicle notified police about the collision at 1:24 a.m.
Police said responding officers administered a roadside test, but the results indicated a second test was needed using an intoxilyzer.
Dament, a 12-year-member of the service, is scheduled to appear in court on January 3, 2017.
He has been placed on administrative duties pending the outcome of his court case. The police service is also conducting its own investigation.
