Picture this: A giant Christmas tree placed at the new Mosaic Stadium
Now what would you place under that tree to gift the Saskatchewan Roughriders?
First, a contract extension with Darian Durant, of course. That wouldn’t be a gift for only the Riders but to help with the frayed nerves of Rider Nation’s hardened fans fearing number four’s departure.
Second, a starting Canadian offensive lineman. No, make that two starting Canadian offensive lineman. If it is or isn’t Durant the team needs to protect him and also protect their ratio which was hurt by only starting two Canadians along the offensive line rather than the four they started in the 2013 Grey Cup season.
Third, a pass rusher. They actually had some of those but gifted them away to Hamilton and Toronto last year. Maybe someone will return the favour.
Last but not least – or maybe we’re getting a little greedy – wins. Santa, could you get them some wins?
Yeah, that’s a little too greedy as the Riders learned last year, nobody will give those to you.
