A tough first period and some solid goaltending in the other end were enough to set the Saskatoon Blades back in a 5-3 loss to Prince Albert.
The Raiders scored three unanswered goals in the first period while outshooting the Blades 16-9 in the frame.
A Logan Christensen (8) marker late in the frame seemed to spark the Blades heading into the second, but they were up against a tough goalie in the Prince Albert net.
Highly touted, NHL draft eligible netminder Ian Scott stopped 20 of 21 shots in a loud second period for Saskatoon. Only Braylon Shmyr (15) could solve Scott in the frame while the Raiders added one of their own.
In the third, Prince Albert would extend their lead to 5-2 in the early going. Shmyr (16) would pot his second of the night, but that was all the Blades could manage.
Ian Scott would go on to make 38 saves as the defeated Blades outshot the Raiders 41-32. Logan Flodell made 27 saves in the loss.
Saskatoon (13-20-3-1) will look for revenge Wednesday night, when they head home to host the Raiders at SaskTel Centre. Puck-drop is 7:05 p.m.
