'Considering the circumstances ... this is best-case scenario,' Cole Cusitar said.
Two quick second period goals set up a 3-2 overtime comeback win for the Swift Current Broncos over the Saskatoon Blades Friday night.
A Josh Paterson (9) powerplay goal put the Blades ahead in the first before Lukus MacKenzie (5) doubled the lead.
But that was short lived, less than one minute later the Broncos got on the board and added a tying goal not long after.
The third solved nothing, setting up a Kaden Elder game-winning goal to give Swift Current the extra point.
Brock Hamm was busy in the Blades goal, making 32 saves on 35 shots.
The Blades look to avenge the loss in an afternoon date with the Broncos on New Years day. Puck drop is 2:05 at SaskTel Centre.
