Holiday check stop numbers for 2016 show many drivers in Saskatoon may have gotten the message this season.
Over the course of four check stops, police looked at more than 2,800 vehicles for impaired driving.
From that, there were two charges of impaired driving exceeding .08, seven 72-hour suspension charges and two refusals of breath tests.
Other penalties included eight vehicles being impounded, five charges of driving while suspended and three tickets for having liquor inside the vehicle.
Saskatoon police said check stops don’t normally result in high numbers of impaired driving charges, but added they are effective in raising public awareness about finding a safe ride home after drinking.
