RCMP have charged a young person with second-degree murder in relation to the suspicious death investigation in Southend, northeast of Grandmother’s Bay.
The girl, whose age has not been made public, and the victim were known to each other. Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the offence.
Southend RCMP declared the death of a 44-year-old woman suspicious after she died from injuries on New Year’s Day.
Officers went to a home in the northern Sask. community around 2:40 a.m. Jan. 1.
She was taken to the health clinic but did not survive and was declared dead several hours later.
An autopsy is scheduled for Jan. 3 in Saskatoon.
Southend RCMP and RCMP Major Crime Unit North are investigating.
The youth is scheduled to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court Tuesday morning.
