A pub in the Cathedral neighbourhood has released a statement after a managing partner was charged in an attempted bank robbery.
Patrick Shannon is accused of crashing a car into the doors of the Scotiabank on 13th Avenue early Monday morning. Police say he went to into the bank toward the vault but was unsuccessful at gaining entrance.
Shannon was arrested when police pulled over a vehicle on the 2100 block of Albert Street.
Shannon’s Pub & Grill is on Robinson Street across the plaza from where the bank is located. A statement was posted on its Facebook page with no direct mention of the bank.
It explains the pub is a family operated business and they appreciate everyone’s thoughts and continued support.
“We are thankful no one was hurt and we are attempting to find out why this occurred.”
The post concludes with, “It will be business as usual at the pub. Please come in.”
Patrick Shannon is charged with break and enter, resisting arrest and two counts of assaulting a police officer.
