Those who live here know – Saskatoon has its own special kind of magic. Now, the world knows it too.
The Bridge City made an appearance in the New York Times’ 52 Places to Go in 2017 – a feature long regarded by travellers as “the list.”
“There is a perception outside of the Prairies, that Saskatoon has very little going on, when in fact we are a dynamic and growing city, with the youngest demographic in the country,” said Aviva Kohen, media director at Tourism Saskatoon, in a news release Thursday.
Saskatoon is featured alongside the Louvre as a compelling art destination to visit.
“Remai Modern’s opening in 2017 will be an exciting time in Saskatoon” said Gregory Burke, the gallery’s executive director and CEO, in a news release Thursday.
“Our aim is to attract local, national and international visitors so we’re thrilled to have been included in the New York Times’ list of new museums opening this year.”
Overall, Canada is number one on this year’s list released online Thursday and in a special print edition slated for Sunday.
Tourism Saskatoon helped put the city on the New York Times’ radar while at a travel media conference in 2015.
