An axe, machete and sword were among the weapons seized from a Saskatoon home Wednesday.
Saskatoon police had been investigating drug trafficking and the possession of firearms. As a result, officers executed a search warrant around 10:20 a.m. on Jan. 4 at a home in the 100 block of Avenue K South.
Tactical support and crisis negotiators were also on scene.
Police said they seized a loaded shotgun, ammunition, an axe, a machete and a sword, as well as small quantities of methamphetamine and hydromorphone.
Before officers served the warrant, two men were seen leaving the home. A 36-year-old man was arrested, but the other refused to stop for police.
After trying to run away, a 30-year-old man was apprehended by police in an alley at 19th Street between Avenues K and J.
He was arrested on outstanding warrants and is facing new drugs, weapon and firearms charges – along with counts of breaching previous court conditions.
The suspect will make his next appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Jan. 9.
The 36-year-old suspect is charged with possessing crystal methamphetamine. His next court appearance is on Feb. 14.
