It all comes down to a shot – and now people are firing off against using shootouts to determine hockey winners.
It comes after the U.S. nabbed gold a 5-4 shootout win against Canada for the World Junior Hockey Championship Thursday night.
“It was heartbreaking because they lost in a shootout and I don’t like shootouts,” Hailey Evans said. “I was freaking out and yelling at the T.V.”
The teen doesn’t think shootouts should be banned, but rather changed.
“It should be continuous overtime like what the NHL does in their league,” she said.
Despite the negativity towards shootouts, Saskatoon resident Alison Schneider said she was on the edge of her seat for the whole game.
“I was falling off my seat, it was so crazy,” she said. “I still really dislike shootouts.”
On social media, a number of American commenters were calling Canadians a bunch of whiners.
Don’t remember Canada fans complaining shootouts were stupid when Toews was being sent out over and over again.

Some tweets said that if Canada had won, shootouts would have been a great thing.
