Five nurses are out of jobs at the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region (RQHR).
They were in the home care coordinator office.
RQHR confirms that work is now being done by what it calls “network hubs”.
“Much of that work of that particular office has been transferred to community and neighbourhood networks where nurses are on the ground responding,” explained Sheila Anderson with RQHR.
“It better meets the needs of our clients and their families with care designed for that network or neighbourhood.”
The five staff impacted managed the administration side of the home care service but would occasionally attend to patients when other nurses were off sick.
The management side of that work will now be transferred to within each hub.
Anderson is hopeful the five nurses will find work or other opportunities elsewhere in the health region.
