The Roughriders announced that defensive end, Jonathan Newsome has signed a contract extension with the club through 2018.
Newsome joined the team during training camp in June after spending time in the NFL. He led the Indianapolis Colts in sacks during his rookie season in 2014, and was second in the league amongst rookies.
With the Roughriders, Newsome played all 18 regular season games this year and started in nine of them. He collected 27 defensive tackles, six special teams tackles and two quarterback sacks.
