The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are investing big money in Matt Nichols… and I think back to when they paid up big dollars to Drew Willy and think “I guess they haven’t learned a lesson.”
Nichols is a fine QB but a quarterback worth premiere starter dollars?
Um…. I don’t think so.
He played a good 2016 season, but it was half a season with a defence that was turning over the ball in record pace.
Many times Nichols was working with a short field and had the benefit of a ball hawking defense.
Drew Willy was also a quarterback that was unproven, though, much more unproven than Matt Nichols.
Meanwhile, back at home, the Riders wouldn’t give a proven QB less money than what Matt Nichols got in 2017.
To each his own, but I’m willing to bet a new Riders QB — whenever they find that guy — will end up with a better career than Matt Nichols
