It’s safe to say the Saskatoon Blades six-game homestand was a success after a 6-3 win over Swift Current.
The victory marked a fifth straight win for the Blades, all coming in the confines of SaskTel Centre.
Jesse Shynkaruk(20,21) opened the scoring with back to back goals for a 2-0 lead at the end of the first.
The Broncos would answer back in the second before the Blades put a yet another pair of back to back goals on the board. Evan Fiala (3) and Chase Wouters (5) each scored on.
Before the second intermission, Swift Current made a game of it, scoring a pair to set up a one-goal game into the third.
Once again, the Blades put up points in pairs. Josh Paterson (10,11) buried the first of two midway through the third and added a late empty netter.
Brock Hamm picked up the win in goal with a 28 save performance.
With the win, Saskatoon extends their lead over the Calgary Hitmen to five points in the wildcard race. Though Calgary has three games in hand.
The Blades are back in action on Friday night in Moose Jaw.
