It wasn’t a dull start to the week for Saskatoon police.
An officer’s cruiser was “minimally damaged” after they began following a Chrysler Intrepid driving erratically at around 1 a.m. Monday morning.
The driver braked suddenly, causing a collision with the patrol car in an alley off Matheson Drive.
The Intrepid was then abandoned on Macklem Drive, and the suspect ran away.
A police dog managed to track the scent, locating the suspect hiding in a home on Matheson Place where he was arrested.
Police said the 18-year-old man was in breach of court conditions, didn’t have a driver’s licence and was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
He’s now facing charges of assault with a weapon, evading police and possession of bear spray.
