The $1.33M rent reduction comes from what the club owed during seasons impacted by the pandemic.
The NDP is largely putting the blame for the oil spill on the Ocean Man First Nation Friday firmly at the feet of government.
Over 200,000 litres leaked onto low-lying agricultural land on the First Nation and was caught in an icy slough.
The opposition has long argued the government has not done enough to test and inspect pipelines.
“It just adds to some of that concern about inspections and about the safety under this government in terms of how well the pipelines are being inspected,” Regina MLA Carla Beck maintained.
“It does highlight the need for a proper level of inspection and/or transparency and for vigilance and frankly, timeliness of reporting out to the public.”
The privacy commissioner raised concerns about the public access to pipeline reports and inspection notices.
Beck says it is luck this oil spill didn’t reach any waterways.
It is the second spill in the last year, the last being the Husky spill into the north Saskatchewan River in July.
