There aren’t many professional athletes that hate themselves. If one has the character to compete in sports at a high level, then they will defend their character.
That was the case when new Rider receiver Duron Carter talked to the Saskatchewan media Thursday. At one point he said “getting along with me is no problem, I’m pretty nice.”
I have yet to meet Duron Carter. The only way I can assess his personality is to go by what I’ve seen and heard. I’ve seen him on video get in to an altercation with teammates, and have heard that he became such a distraction that the Alouettes released him before the end of the 2016 season.
Rightly or wrongly performance trumps personality. Success is measured in wins and losses. If Carter becomes a star on a Rider football teams that wins, and he isn’t at the centre of controversy, he will fit in just fine.
