A Regina man is accused of stealing a woman’s purse, running away with it, and ditching it in a back alley.
Regina police received a call about a robbery around 1:50 a.m. Saturday. The incident took place in the area of 2nd Avenue North and McIntyre Street.
The investigation revealed the woman was walking eastbound on 2nd Avenue North from McIntyre St. when a man approached her from behind. The suspect initially grabbed the purse, but the victim held on. Police said the suspect then started to assault the woman, causing her to lose grip of the purse.
The man fled in an eastbound direction and tossed the purse into an alley.
A police canine unit was brought in to track the suspect. He was eventually found around the 800 block of Cornwall Street.
Richard Crowe, 35, is facing a charge of robbery.
The victim’s purse and all its contents were recovered. Police said the victim suffered minor injuries.
