'Robust' investigation underway as Regina police seek driver in fatal hit and run

Whether it is taking witness statements, reviewing evidence at the scene or going over surveillance video, Regina’s police chief says officers are doing all they can to try and solve a fatal hit and run from last weekend.
 
“We’ve got a fairly robust array of investigative techniques going on right now to try and locate who is responsible and ultimately find out what happened and hold the person responsible,” Police Chief Evan Bray said Wednesday. 

The incident happened Sunday night in the area of Ross Avenue near Elliot Street, where the body of the victim – 42-year-old Jamie Gallon – was found on the road. 

The vehicle involved in the collision was not on scene when police and EMS arrived. Police have released details about the vehicle.

“Sometimes just the continual talking about it is part of the investigation to hopefully have the person that is responsible – or someone who knows what happened – to come forward,” Bray said.

“There are cases where it’s a legitimate accident and someone panics. Someone panics and flees the scene not knowing what has happened, what they hit. That can happen.”

Anyone that sees a vehicle matching the description – a 2009-12 Ford F-150 with front-end damage – is asked to contact police immediately.
