A serious two vehicle crash in southern Saskatchewan has killed a man and another is now accused of being impaired behind the wheel at the time of the incident.
The crash happened around 2 p.m. Sunday on Highway 39 about five kilometres south of Highway 1.
RCMP said the investigation revealed a southbound truck collided with a northbound truck.
The only person in the northbound truck, a 62-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the southbound truck, along with a 42-year-old man and 29-year-old woman, both passengers, were taken to a nearby hospital and later released.
John Smolinski, 34, of Weyburn, is facing several charges including impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death
Smolinski made his first court appearance in Moose Jaw on Monday. His second appearance is scheduled for Tuesday.
RCMP also confirmed a man from Melville died in a crash on Highway 10 by Fort Qu’Appelle Sunday.
