Pair of robberies add to flood of calls for Saskatoon police

It was a busy start to the week for Saskatoon police.
 
Officers responded to about 60 calls Monday night between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
 
Two of those calls were for armed robberies.
 
Police were called at 9:57 p.m. for a report of a robbery at Werezak’s Pharmacy at 123 Lenore Drive. 
 
Two men allegedly came in carrying handguns with their faces covered. They reportedly left with cash and narcotics and are believed to have taken off in a vehicle that was parked nearby.
 
Just minutes after getting that call, police were called again just after 10 p.m., after a man allegedly had his truck stolen at knifepoint near the intersection of 18th Street and Avenue W.
 
Police reported that the driver, 25, was leaving a parking lot with his window down when a man with a knife opened his door and ordered him out of the truck.

The vehicle was found abandoned a short time later.
 
The suspect is described as a heavyset indigenous man in his early 20’s, about five feet, six inches tall and weighing about 220 pounds. He was reportedly wearing a black jacket with a fur-lined hood.
