Two houses were heavily damaged in a fire Tuesday night in Riversdale.
The Saskatoon Fire Department arrived at 213 Avenue I South around 10:15 p.m.
Seeing heavy smoke and flames pouring out the back of the home, firefighters quickly made their way inside to make sure everyone had gotten out.
The search crew found no one inside, but did rescue a cat that was found suffering from burns and smoke inhalation. The pet was taken to an animal hospital for treatment.
It took about three hours to get the fire under control, as flames spread to the roof of the neighbouring home at 211 Avenue I South.
The house where the fire originated sustained an estimated $140,000 in damage. Damage to the neighbouring home was pegged at about $80,000.
No people were injured in the blaze. An investigator couldn’t determine what started the fire.
