More adult players are now investing in the protective equipment.
On one of the coldest days of the year, Regina’s police chief took the plunge for charity.
Fully dressed in his uniform, Chief Evan Bray jumped into freezing cold water to raise money for Special Olympics Saskatchewan, as part of the Polar Plunge challenge.
“It was pretty darn cold, I’m not going to lie to you, it was pretty darn cold,” Bray said from a hot tub seconds after his dip. “I am glad to be on this side of it and obviously glad to have raised the money.”
Regina police raised more than $2,100 for the charity, but several thousand more dollars is expected to be raised from those taking part.

The event was held at City Square Plaza throughout the day Wednesday.
Regina fire Chief Ernie Polsom, along with RCMP assistant commissioner Brenda Lucki, also took the plunge.
As for Bray, it could be someone else diving in at the next event.
“Someone from our police service will be, I’m not too sure it will be me, I will help fundraise,” he joked.
