If it comes to pure credibility, believing Justin Dunk is easier than believing Chris Jones.
Dunk works for Sportsnet and writes for 3DownNation. He reported Thursday the Riders worked out quarterback Johnny Manziel, whose off-field problems have evidently ended his NFL career.
Jones denied the story and initially threatened legal action, aware the Riders could be disciplined because Manziel is on Hamilton’s negotiation list. Jones is the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ boss; he was disciplined numerous times last year for breaking CFL rules and denying it.
Following an interview on the Green Zone, Dunk was criticized by some listeners for not providing details about the workout. He doesn’t have to. Dunk is a reporter. The most important thing for a reporter is getting the story correct. And the next important thing is protecting his sources. Dunk’s reports have always been bang-on and there’s still no reason to think otherwise.
