Lots of people at Market Mall Saturday afternoon trying to meet their match.
This had nothing to do with dating, it was actually New Hope Dog Rescue’s adopt a dog event.
“Anytime we do an adoption event we get an influx of applications,” said Alex Tumback with New Hope. “I would imagine most of the dogs will be gone after the event.”
Over 70 people checked out 15 dogs being showcased.
“This is huge to get our name out there,” Tumback said. “It’s also good to get the stigma away from rescue dogs, they’re fantastic animals.
Tumback said it frustrates her how people can just abandon their pets.
“Baxter (shih tzu-poodle) was found in a ditch up in La Loche,” she said. “That bothers me because of the minus 40 temperatures and the disrespect some people have for their dogs.”
The dogs also walked the model runway, barked a lot, and sniffed each other’s butts.
