A Saskatchewan man has been fined for threatening the prime minister on social media.
Christopher Hayes, from the village of Grayson, was found guilty Monday of uttering threats. He’s been fined $500 and put on probation for nine months.
Back in March 2016, RCMP received a complaint of alleged threats made against Justin Trudeau.
The RCMP National Security Enforcement Section began an investigation, and in July a second complaint was received of a similar nature.
Hayes was arrested at his home in Grayson at the beginning of August. During the arrest, RCMP also sized several electronic devices from the residence.
Grayson is located around 70 kilometres south of Yorkton,
