Regina police are providing information about a possible firearms offence near the downtown.
Police said officers received a call around 12:41 p.m. Tuesday about a report of a woman who had pointed a gun at someone in a vehicle on Dewdney Avenue near Albert Street.
The initial information indicated the female suspect approached a dark-blue and grey truck and pointed what appeared to be a gun at a passenger in the truck. The caller who reported the incident said the suspect appeared to fire into the passenger window, however the same caller reported hearing clicks, not bangs. The suspect then got into the passenger side of a grey car, which left the scene.
The truck was also gone by the time police arrived at the scene.
Several police units were dispatched in the area, and eventually located both vehicles. When officers stopped the suspect vehicle, there were no passengers, only a male driver. The vehicle was seized, and police said BB’s and CO2 cartridges were found in the vehicle, but no gun or pellet gun.
The driver of the suspect vehicle was detained, but then released with no charges at this time.
Police said the victim in the truck did not know the female suspect. The female passenger acknowledged that some sort of argument had occurred between her and the suspect, but appeared to be unaware a firearm or fake firearm was present.
The investigation is ongoing.
