A five-hour standoff in the Confederation Park neighbourhood Friday has led to the arrest of one man.
The Saskatoon Police Guns and Gangs Unit arrived at the home in the 3800 block of John A MacDonald Road around 5 p.m. with an arrest warrant in connection with a Jan. 2017 assault.
According to officers the man, 28, was uncooperative and refused to come out of his home. Eventually, he started barricading himself inside with furniture.
Police negotiators were called in to help with the situation, but it escalated when the man armed himself with a knife.
Because a weapon was involved the tactical unit was brought in while negotiators continued to work with the man.
Around 10:30 p.m. the man surrendered to police and was taken into custody.
There were no injuries.
Still no word on what charges the suspect faces.
