Over the weekend Cameron Wake signed another two-year deal with the Miami Dolphins.
All CFL fans should be smiling that Wake was able to make his way to a prominent NFL career by coming through the Canadian Football League.
He dominated the CFL with 39 sacks in his two seasons with the B.C. Lions. He’s now over 80 sacks in his eight year NFL career.
I never get tired of the success stories from our league, who make it south of the border. Warren Moon, Jeff Garcia, Jerrell Freeman, or even a guy in the front office like Atlanta GM Thomas Dimitroff, or heck, even a punter like Regina’s Jon Ryan.
Even better, these players who get their shot, never kick the CFL. They embrace it and are champions for the league. They know how much talent there is up here and how close the competition is.
Wake reminds us we should never shudder or be disappointed at news of another star getting a shot down south, because the more that head south, the easier it is to sell the next future star to come north.
