Saskatoon police are reporting a unique theft.
Police issued a media release late Wednesday afternoon saying that someone made off with a large amount of Saudi Arabian money following a break-in.
They’re asking the public to be on the lookout for someone trying to exchange the money for Canadian dollars.
Police stated that a substantial number of 500-riyal notes were taken.
As of Thursday morning, one riyal was trading at 35 cents Canadian.
At that exchange rate, each stolen 500-riyal note would be worth about $175.
