A 36-year-old man is facing several charges after an early morning police chase through Saskatoon.
Police said an officer patrolling Idylwyld Drive spotted a Chevy Equinox that had been reported stolen around 2 a.m. Tuesday.
The driver allegedly sped off when the officer tried to pull him over, heading north out of the city.
The police airplane was called in to follow the suspect. He was allegedly seen throwing items out the window of the vehicle as he made his way along a gravel road near Martensville.
Police said they got ahead of the suspect and laid down a stop-stick, disabling the Equinox which then skidded into a nearby yard.
From there, the suspect reportedly stole another vehicle – a Honda Civic – before speeding north in the southbound lane of Highway 11.
Police said the man nearly hit an officer who was standing in the ditch after laying down another stop-stick.
The chase finally ended when the suspect slammed into a police cruiser just north of Warman.
Police reported the man was found in possession of hydromorphone pills, Dilaudid and crystal meth. Officers also found an airsoft pistol that was allegedly flung from the vehicle during the chase.
The man is facing a dozen charges stemming from the incident.
