I hate taking shots at teammates when they can’t respond, but that’s why I’ve got this commentary. And they took unreciprocated shots at me and Woodsy yesterday.
Woodsy and I are a little older than Drew and Jamie, which obviously gives us the knowledge that Paul Henderson scored the most important goal in Canadian hockey history. Henderson’s goal in Moscow won the 1972 Summit Series against the dreaded, communist Russians.
Because of the politics at the time, the Summit Series pitted one lifestyle against another, one political belief against another, one hockey system against another. It wasn’t exactly detente on ice. If you lived through it, you understand why Henderson’s goal was way more important than Crosby’s goal.
