Tim Probe won't resign as councillor of R.M. of Sherwood

A councillor and Deputy Reeve of the R.M. of Sherwood will not be resigning even though there have been requests to do so.

Tim Probe is facing a municipal corruption charge after some sort of incident in or near Regina on Feb. 2, 2016.

Both the province and R.M. councillors have asked Probe to step aside, but on Wednesday he sent out a statement suggesting that was not going to happen.

Part of the statement reads:

“Tim Probe will not be voluntarily resigning from the R.M. of Sherwood Council, as per the council’s February 13th request.

Yesterday, he notified the R.M. of Sherwood that he declined to submit his resignation, and made it clear that he will defend that decision before the courts if necessary.

In October 2016, Tim agreed to step aside from his council responsibilities until his legal issues were resolved; he will continue to refrain from attending council meetings and involving himself in R.M. business.

Tim plans to return to his duly elected seat on the R.M. council, when he is vindicated.”

Probe is scheduled to return to provincial court in Regina on June 6, 2017.
