Regina man faces list of charges in connection to robberies and shoplifting

A Regina man is facing 13 charges from two different robberies and one shoplifting incident in the city.

On Monday, Regina police were called out for a suspicious person in the 1200 block of Pasqua Street as the caller stated that a man in dark clothes had been seen peering over fences and going into yards. After officers took the man into custody an investigation revealed that the man was allegedly involved in  two robberies, one of which included a gun, as well as a shoplifting incident that took place last year.

The first incident took place on Oct. 18, where police were called to an armed robbery at a store in the 100 block of Broad Street. During the robbery two males, one with a bat, the other with a knife demanded the employee for cash, and in a struggle, one man left the victims arm with a slash from the knife.

The second incident took place on Dec. 4, when officers were dispatched to a restaurant on the 300 block of Albert Street. An employee told police two men entered the building, one with a long barreled gun, the other with bear spray and a hatchet-type weapon. The pair demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene in a waiting vehicle.

The third incident occurred on Dec. 30, when officers responded to a report of shoplifting at a business in the 4800 block of Gordon Road. A man is accused of pulling the fire alarm in the store, causing it to be evacuated, and while exiting the store police say the man took items that were not paid for.

32-year-old Tony James Thompson,  faces 13 charges in connection to the above incidents, which include armed robbery, disguise with intent, possession of a firearm, and theft over $5,000. Thompson made his first court appearance on Tuesday morning.
