Wray Morrison: NHL refs should be making calls

NHL General Managers are meeting in Boca Raton, Fla. and one of the topics of conversation revolves around the use of video.
 
Like every other sport, the National Hockey League has to find a proper balance. How much of the human element in officiating should be taken away to get a call right?

Prior to last season, the league brought in a coach’s challenge option that I would do away with.
 
Coaches can now call for a review of an offside call that leads to a goal.

Now that the rule is in place, it’s important to get the call right. I’m not blaming the officials for the delays, but I’ve seen this take the life out of a hockey game.

Watching two referees look at an i-pad at the penalty box does not sell tickets.
 
This is another example in professional sports where the call should be made by the men in stripes, and the teams should live with the outcome.
