A blaze broke out in the Travellers Building on Broad Street around 9:55 p.m. Tuesday night.
Regina Fire and Protective Services responded with at least five fire trucks to fight the flames.
From the start of the fire, the wind was gusting up anywhere from 50 killometres to 70 kilometres as per Environment Canada.
This is one of Regina’s municipal heritage buildings which is located on the 1800 block of Broad Street. It was built back in 1929 and has been boarded up since the early 2000s.
Two aerial truck operators were seen on the north and west side of the building. Fire crews are expected to work well into Wednesday morning to control the blaze.
Northbound traffic on the 1800 block of Broad Street was still shut down Wednesday morning. Regina police asked drivers to take an alternative route to work during their morning commute.
