Gary Bettman is back looking for a handout from the Arizona government.
In a letter, to help sell a Senate Bill that would help finance a new arena for the team, Bettman threw out his typical threat when he gets desperate. The team will not stay in Glendale. It cannot succeed there so pay up or bye.
Yes, Bettman believes the Coyotes can survive if they build a new rink.
And I agree. If that rink is in Portland or Seattle or Hamilton or Quebec City or Saskatoon.
But not in downtown Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe. Nowhere in the desert.
The ownership group does their best but this is the third time Bettman’s trying to sell hockey in the area. First, when they moved from Winnipeg. Second, when they moved from downtown to Glendale and now again.
What’s that saying about fool me once shame on you? What does that say to the taxpayers if their governments get fooled a third time?
