Flory has been named head coach of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies as the football clubs national search landed in their own locker room as Flory has been the team’s offensive coordinator for the last three years.
After over 30 years as head coach, Brian Towriss did not leave on his own terms. It was a messy and embarrassing split that even led to an apology from the University because of how poorly it was handled.
A change of direction has been sold as a move to get the U of S Huskies football team back to the top of Canada West, a place they haven’t been in over 10 years.
Enter Scott Flory, who is talking about some off-field preparation things that need to improve and he also wants a quick, fast team — an exciting brand of football.
There is some hesitation whether an internal hire will provide much change but Flory sounds like a man who knew things needed to change and voiced them.
Flory’s success would go a long way for the University to put behind them how awful Towriss’ departure went down.
