A 50-year-old Regina man is facing firearms charges after police seized a loaded shotgun from a house on Sunday.
Just before 9 p.m. on March 12, police were dispatched to a house on the 1100 block of Garnet Street to assist Mobile Crisis in checking on the welfare of a minor child in the house.
Police said when they approached the house and the front door opened, officers heard what sounded like a firearm being “racked.”
A man was allegedly in the doorway with his body partially blocked by the door.
Police then moved him away from the door and discovered a loaded shotgun behind the door.
The man was found to be on a court-ordered prohibition from possessing firearms and he was arrested and charged.
Murray Stonechild, 50, is facing 11 charges including assault with a weapon and careless use of a firearm.
Stonechild made his first appearance in provincial court on Monday.
