Six people were taken into custody by Regina police Friday morning on Elphinstone Street as officers dealt with a weapons call.
Police said the investigation began after an injured man entered the General Hospital’s emergency room Thursday night. Police said the man was forcibly confined and assaulted.
This led officers to a home on the 700 block of Elphinstone Street around 2 a.m. Friday. Police said there were guns inside the home.
When officers arrived, police said three women and one man were taken into custody, but more suspects remained inside. That’s when the SWAT team was brought in.
Traffic was restricted and people in the area were told to stay in their homes. One man who lived on the 700 block of Argyle Street said police told him to get into his basement just before 6 a.m.
Around 7:10 a.m., four to five loud bangs were heard. Police said that was SWAT deploying CS gas into the home.
Another man and women were taken into custody shortly after.
Police confirmed six people were taken into custody for questioning. No charges were laid as of noon on Friday.
